Compendium of Curiosities 3 Challenge

Over at Studio L3 Linda has challenged us to use the Painted Industrial Technique and I am just getting in under the wire! I love this technique and enjoyed just playing and enjoying the process along the way. I decided to create a dimensional industrial card. The background uses the technique from Tim Holtz book and I die cut an oval from the centre of my piece using the sized oval die and I added five layers to give added dimension.
From this picture you can see the layers I added to give a niche effect. I also added some chicken wire from my garden to add to the industrial feel along with a monocle with the repeat image, adding a heart charm for added interest. I also included a 'found' Chitchat sticker coloured with Gathered Twigs Distress Ink.
A word band and arrow have been included all painted with a touch of Black Soot Distress Paint. I also added a few jump rings for added interest, simply adhering them to the background, I think they add wonderfully to the masculine industrial feel.
Remnant Rubs have also been included and I have added my dimensional piece to corrugated card for added texture.
I found the Clipboard Clip in my collection and I knew I had to add it to my design, again coloured with a touch of Black Soot Distress Paint, adding Label Letters to add 'found' to the clip along with a vintage key.
The Compendium Of Curiosities Team have some fabulous inspiration for you so why not pop along a take a look and be inspired along the way.

There is also a very generous prize on offer for the winner. A huge thank you to Inspiration Emporium for sponsoring the challenge too.

Anemone Collage

I am showcasing the fabulous COLLAGE ANEMONE from Katzelkraft.
The background of the card has been brayered with Broken China Distress Paint. I have then cut three panels which have been brayered with Broken China and Rusty Hinge Distress Paints.
I have stamped each of the panels with the ANEMONE image using Potting Soil Archival Ink. I have also included an optical lense to the central panel along with a heart charm.
A small banner has been added to the bottom of the card with an added Remnant Rub.

Artistic Outpost Blog Hop

Time for our monthly blog hop with Artistic Outpost and this month it's a DESIGNERS CHOICE which I love as I can use one of my favourite stamp plates once again, the THINK AND WONDER plate.
I have opted for a vintage feel this week applying Antique Linen Distress Ink to a piece of white card that has been spritzed with water, taking the inkpad directly to the card and swiping the colour over the background. I added a touch of background stamping using two of the background stamps from the GENERATION REDUX plate, these two stamps are great fillers, I love them!
I stamped the frame from the CHALK IT UP plate onto white card using Black Arcival Ink, cut out the frame and then added the focal image to the centre adding a few creases to the card for that aged feel and I then coloured with Distress Inks Antique Linen and Walnut Stain.. I added a banner to the top of the card with the sentiment 'GO TOGETHER' which is from the CHALKBOARD WISDOM plate along with a coordinate button threaded with natural twine.
I added a tag to the bottom of the card and once again added part of the focal image, creasing the tag in places to add to the aged feel and then colouring with Distress Inks. I also included an Adage Ticket, died seam binding and a heart button threaded with twine.
I also stamped the focal image to the inside of my card.

My fellow Design Team members have made some fabulous pieces to inspire you, please pop along and visit their blogs and be inspired along the way.

Artistic Outpost are also having a sale on their flowers and gardening plates and the sale is open until week ending 2nd August with a fabulous 20% off.  Pop by HERE to see all the information.

Possibility Begins With Imagination

It's been a long time since I had time to just play for fun so today I thought I would try out Tim Holtz July tag for inspiration for the first time this year. You can find the details for Tim's tag HERE.
I decided to create a card inspired by Tim's tag and as usual I had to improvise as I did not have all the products. I am loving the background and the bubble Texture Fade which adds wonderful texture to the backdrop.
I adore the crackle on the seahorses. This is the first time I have used this die but it definitely will not be the last, I really enjoyed creating with these!
This would make a great card for a summer birthday and I love how you can see the background through the plastic.
I improvised with the bottom of my card and used mini shells to add interest and dimension.

Thanks so much for stopping by. See you tomorrow with my Artistic Outpost creation.

Vintage Anemone

This weeks DT piece for Katzelkraft I have created a vintage card using the COLLAGE ANEMONE plate.
The background has been coloured with Walnut Stain Distress Ink and flicked with water to added blotches for further interest. I have also creased and bent the card to add to the aged feel and then applied more Distress Ink around those areas to highlight. The edges have also been distressed with a pair of scissors.
The focal image has been stamped with Black Archival Ink and then I have used a brush and water to bleach out some of the areas on the flowers.
I die cut a circle from white card and then stamped part of the image onto the circle and then added to the card to add a spotlight to add dimension and further interest. I also included a banner and Botanical Remnant Rub.

The Katzelkraft Challenge for July is FLOWERS, there is still time to enter HERE and there is a fabulous prize on offer too.

Keep A Song In Your Heart

Today I am using the SONGBIRDS plate from Artistic Outpost.
I began by spritzing my card with water and then brayering Broken China Distress Paint over the white card and then lightly brayering over the top with Rusty Hinge.
I stamped the Songbirds onto a piece of white card which I had brayered with Distress Paints, stamping the image with Potting Soil Archival Ink, I also added Rusty Hinge Distress Ink around the edges for definition. A touch of background stamping has been added using the background stamp from the GENERATION REDUX plate and Rusty Hinge ink.  I then added a tag stamped with the text from the SERENITY plate, perfect I thought for the Songbirds. I also added a small circular plate with a touch of stamping from the same text stamp, adding Rusty Hinge Ink to the edges of both tags. I have also included two coordinated buttons threaded with natural twine.
Seam binding died with Distress Ink has been added along with a mini tag with SONG stamped from the text stamp and I have also included a metal embellishment coloured with Distress Paints.
To complete I have also stamped the Songbirds to the inside of my card.

Timepiece Artist Trading Block

Today I have created an Artist Trading Block for Katzelkraft which I would also like to enter into the Craft Stamper Make It Take It July Challenge.
The front of my Artist Trading Block uses the Chrono Plate which I have stamped with VersaMark Ink and then embossed with clear embossing powder, applying Broken China Distress Ink over the top of the embossing which resists the ink. I then applied touches of Walnut Stain Disress Ink around the edges for some contrast. Remnant Rubs have also been added to the front for added interest. The ATB has been added to a large wooden spool painted with Broken China Distress Paint and again Remnant Rubs added .
Opposite sides of my ATB have been decorated with the clock face from the So Special Plate, again using the resist technique and I have also included a Remnant Rub and pointing finger image.
More clock faces stamped to the top of my ATB along with a letter 'T' for TIME, brass clock charm and ticket which I have aged with Distress Ink, adding creases to a few areas to add further to the aged feel.
I also included a pocket watch Art Part to the top of the ATB for added dimension, adding vintage watch parts to the centre and then pouring clear UTEE into the centre, adding touches of wax to the edges.
Continuing with the clock/time theme around the opposite side along with an aged ticked and Remnant Rubs.

Vintage Tag

Today I have created a tag using leftovers from my desk using the fabulous THINK AND WONDER plate from Artistic Outpost.
I had a jumbo tag lying around on my desk and this was the perfect opportunity to use up some scraps and challenge myself. I applied Crackle Texture Paste to the background applied to a coat of metallic gold Embossing Paste. Once dry I applied a good coverage of Vintage Photo Distress Stain; I love how the stain seeps through the cracks to add to the vintage feel.
Wax has been applied to the edges of my tag and I used the ornate frame to showcase my focal image which I coloured with a touch of Vintage Photo Distress Ink and flicking with water to add blotches to the background. The frame has been coloured with Antique Linen Distress Ink and Vintage Photo applied to the edges along with touches of wax.
I died some seam binding with Distress Ink and created an enamelled embellishment by adding Ultra Thick Embossing Enamel to a mould again adding wax to the top to highlight the design and texture. The enamelled embellishment has been added to the died seam binding and some rustic twine.
I took a scrap of seam binding from my desk, died with Distress Inks and then stamped part of the focal image onto the seam binding using Black Archival Ink. I also added a smaller enamelled embellishment to the bottom corner.

Happy Birthday Card

Thanks for stopping by today to see this weeks Katzelkraft DT creation.
Continuing with the warm bright colours this week combined with the COLLAGE EQUINOXE stamp set. I adore the detail of the floral image.
The background has been brayered with Distress Paints and I have added touches of background stamping for added interest. Dimension has been added to the flowers and my sentiment.
Tiny metal embellishments have been added to the centres of three of the flowers to give added texture to my design.
